Miss Michelle began dancing at age 7 taking ballet for 1 year and then moving into jazz for several years across two studios. She also took Classical Bengali dancing and performed at many Bengali functions in the community, celebrating the culture and heritage of her family. 

 

At 15, she took summer classes with Miss Samantha which started her love of Irish! Following Miss Samantha from church basement to community centre to dance studio, Miss Michelle has been a student of The Dance Centre from the beginning! In University she took over as the Irish dance teacher for Brock Dance from 2004-2007, winning Teacher of the Year in 2007. Upon graduating from university, she returned to TDC and competed with the senior competitive team for several years before becoming an Irish teacher in 2010 and completing her Irish Grade Exams with WIDA from Grades 1 through 8. 

 

Over the last 16 years, she has grown as a student, teacher and dancer. She has competed internationally in Virtual Feis in the US, Australia, Hong Kong and Europe, winning her categories and qualifying for the Senior World Championships in 2025. As an adult, she has been a competitive contemporary dancer since 2024, often competing as the oldest dancer in the entire competition along with her duet partner! 

 

Miss Michelle has a love of teaching littles and has expanded her repertoire to include teaching ballet, jazz, tap, acro, Irish and aerial silks.

She continues to be a student at TDC and can be seen taking most of the adult classes to further her skills as a dancer and teacher!
